The Climate Group has launched a campaign to encourage businesses to switch to electric vehicles.

Baidu, Deutsche Post DHL, Heathrow Airport, HP, Ikea, LeasePlan, Metro, PG&E, Unilever and Vattenfall have signed up as the first ten members of the EV100 group.

Members will swap their diesel or petrol vehicles to electric vehicles by 2030.

They may also install electric battery charging infrastructure by the same date.

‘Business logic’

Helen Clarkson, Chief Executive at The Climate Group, said: “We want to make electric transport the new normal.

“EV100 will use companies’ collective global buying power and influence on employees and customers to build demand and cut costs.

“The members being announced today see the business logic in leading a faster transition and addressing local air quality issues in their markets.”
