Building confidence in supplier relationships and better serving businesses across the country

The challenges and opportunities presenting themselves in the energy industry today are vast. In order to stand out in the market, with an offering that builds confidence in supplier relationships and better serves businesses across the country, SmartestEnergy and Dual Energy are pleased to announce an enhanced commercial arrangement between the two parties.

The new arrangement builds on an existing commercial partnership dating back to 2009 when Dual Energy was first established. In addition to SmartestEnergy’s provision of market access and competitive pricing, a number of risk management services will be provided to ensure that both Dual Energy and its customers are better supported to cope with potential ongoing market volatility.

Ben Giddings, Dual Energy’s Managing Director, commented, “We have been consistently impressed by the SmartestEnergy team since we first began trading nine years ago. This deal – our fourth with SmartestEnergy – deepens and further still extends the relationship and enables us to increase our budget for sales commissions, while continuing to hedge 100% of our contracted energy volumes.”

A number of smaller independent suppliers have struggled to stay afloat over the past 12 months, so it is important to both parties that this enhanced agreement helps to rebuild trust in the business-supplier relationship. Both parties are confident that with this expanded partnership in place, they will be able to go from strength-to-strength, while also providing customers with added peace of mind.

Dave Cockshott, SmartestEnergy’s Chief Commercial Officer, commented, “We are delighted to have extended our relationship with our longstanding partner, Dual Energy. Having witnessed a number of independent energy suppliers wrestle with volatile market conditions throughout a challenging 2018, it has become ever more important to focus on building strong commercial partnerships, which can withstand market pressures and provide customers with confidence.”

In the years ahead, both parties will work to ensure that the new agreement provides a robust platform for the two established and experienced energy suppliers to continue to work together to advance market offerings to Dual Energy’s valued partners and customers.
