SmartestEnergy are proud sponsors of ‘Net Zero Week’, the UK’s first national awareness week, which takes place from the 17th – 23rd July 2021.
To celebrate Net Zero Week, we’ll be launching a series of in-person and virtual activities throughout July to engage our customers, employees and the wider public in the UK’s net-zero carbon emissions targets, aiming to build a common understanding and heightened awareness of net-zero on the approach to COP26.
Last month we invited the Net Zero Week editorial team and the film crew from Giving Back Films to our Canary Wharf office to shoot video interviews with the Net Zero Week partners and sponsors. We also welcomed Martin Offiah, the week’s Official Ambassador and former professional rugby player. Martin Offiah is an early EV adopter who dedicates his time to educating and encouraging people to make the switch to EVs. Pictured being interviewed below, he commented on helping all businesses and consumers understand net-zero, along with driving the much-needed momentum on a national scale.
With the video interviews launching this week and just over a month to go until Net Zero Week, we are finalising our plans to host our first in-person event in 18 months, since the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the UK’s first national lockdown.
Our Net Zero Week Festival Event will take place in Canary Wharf on Thursday 22nd July from midday until 9pm with sustainably sourced food and drinks available, music and entertainment from 5:30pm; lots of activities are scheduled throughout the day to show our support for Net Zero Week. We’ll also be running a programme of content with a host of expert speakers to deliver seminars and breakout sessions from our office. Our customers, partners, stakeholders and local businesses are free to attend in person (subject to available seats) or watch sessions via a live stream.
In the next few weeks, we will be sharing more information about the activities we have scheduled for our Net Zero Week Festival and related content such as blogs to podcasts, with guest speakers including some of our I&C business customers, the independent generators we work with, and some of the most renowned industry experts.
As a sponsor of ‘Net Zero Week’ we aim to help businesses understand what role they can play by procuring renewable energy and participate in an increasingly dynamic energy system. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements to find out how you and your business can get involved.
