JLL, a global real estate company, was committed to complying with the latest UKGBC recommendations. The membership body’s 2023 guidelines called for companies to begin time-matching their Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) certificates to evidence a traceable supply.
SmartestEnergy was keen to support JLL across 17 supply points within their UK portfolio, offering a product specifically designed to meet both the UKGBC recommendations and expected changes to the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.
JLL appreciated our longstanding commitment to navigating the net zero transition and empowering a greener generation through more accurate and transparent energy reporting.
Our reliable reputation and longstanding relationships with independent renewable generators throughout the UK instilled confidence in JLL that we could supply them with an industry-leading solution which would meet their needs.
As SmartestEnergy was already sourcing its REGOs directly from generators that complied with UKGBC standards, JLL remained assured that any power purchased through our product originated from 100% certified renewable sources. As a result, they benefitted from the simplicity of a supply contract, without the added complexity in needing to obtain REGOs directly from each generator, saving JLL time and money whilst reducing risk.
Using SmartestEnergy’s Traceable Renewable Supply product, JLL also benefited from access to additional scoring metrics, which showcased their compliance with UKGBC recommendations and elevated the transparency of their reporting.
Upon delivering 100% GHG Scope 2 annual matching and achieving a 73.8% Carbon Free Energy (CFE) score over the 2023-2024 compliance period, the product instilled further confidence from JLL in their ability to measure, showcase and celebrate their use of renewable energy and feed into their wider sustainability reporting submissions.
Further to reporting the carbon content within their energy supply, JLL will now use Traceable Renewable Supply to better inform their building-run strategies, as they look to optimise demand response and further improve their CFE score.
