Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Norway was one of the UK’s most important and longstanding energy partners, and is the single biggest supplier of gas after the UK Continental Shelf.
News of the new agreement, which could be signed in the Spring, came as the Prime Minister visited a cross-border carbon transport and storage facility in Norway to see the potential benefits of such projects for the UK.
The Government recently signed the first carbon capture usage and storage (CCUS) contracts in the UK with Norwegian company Equinor playing a major role.
